Claus Mueller discovered a list of Helmstadt owners of horses and mercenary from 1560/1561 with soccage to the cloister of Holzkirchen and gave us permission to publish this list at martin-bavaria.de. The list shows from our lines Endres Martin (father of Hans, Georg and Bartholomaeus) and Georg Martin (the son of Andreas Martin). (PDF)

Today we published a complete list of all liable citizen of Helmstadt as of 1633, incl. their age at this time. We like to thank Bernd Schaetzlein who discovered this document at the BW state archive Wertheim / Cloister Bronnbach, made a transcript and (together with Edgar Martin) gave as the permission to publish it here and make it available for further research of the Martin genealogy.

The study group for monument and history preservation finished their hard work, digitized, indexed and documented the first edition of the village court records Helmstadt starting from 1589. Edgar Martin presented today the book and DVD document to the 1st mayor Rudolf Stark at the town council. Bernd Schaetzlein and Edgar Martin working already on a second volume covering the period 1749 to 1763.

The sister of his ancestor Adam Martin was married to Alois Jessberger and arrived in NY Castle Gardens on Aug 27, 1883. Together with their three children Michael, Theresia and Franziska. On registration the name was misspelled as'Tissberger'.

On the traces of German and Bavarian emigrants
or "the Martin's around 1855 on their way to America". The large emigration wave of the 19. Jahrhunderts is center of a Docu Soap, which the German TV Channel WDR has produced for ARD and arte. Over 40 people sailing on a traditional sailer boat - in conditions of the time around 1855, from Bremerhafen to New York, like so many of our Martin's from Trennfeld and Helmstadt. A new Martin's Line Klaus M. from Bad Woerishofen connected.
His ancestor Carl Leopold Martin, born in Trennfeld moved 1908 with his whole family from Trennfeld to Ulm to work for the Goldochsen brewery. Independent of our Summer reunion they had one of their own and Burkard Kuhn made the connection. Thanks!
